a Doctorate of Medicine (UBC, M.D.1981). She practiced as a conventional
family physician for 10 years in Surrey, British Columbia, prior to
developing an interest in complementary medicine 12 years ago. She is
certified by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute and traveled
in China in 1995 learning Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has a special
interest in mind-body medicine and is trained in clinical hypnosis by
the Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis, B.C. Her current private
practice located at the Fraser Arthritis Centre in Langley, BC, is focused
on medical acupuncture, pain management, and mind-body medicine with a
special interest in fibromyalgia.
She facilitates group sessions on healing and recovery from fibromyalgia
and chronic fatigue using the mind-body approach. She is Director of Clinical Services
at the Centre for Integrated Healing (Vancouver, B.C.), a non-profit
society created to provide integrated complementary cancer care services.
She is also a Clinical Intructor in the Department of Family Practice,
Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia. She has spoken
to numerous groups, community organizations and hospitals on the topics
of acupuncture, fibromyalgia, motivational counseling, integrated healthcare
or complementary cancer care. She strongly believes that the science
of medicine is only one aspect of wellness and that we can reach our
highest potential for healing when science is integrated with complementary
therapies that awaken our inner healer, bringing body, mind and spirit
to a state of true wellness. She lives with her husband, 4 children
and dog in Surrey, B.C. and she enjoys family camping trips and hiking
in the natural beauty of British Columbia.
